If there’s one place I absolutely love going for dinner, it’s Benihana. Not only because the food is delicious, but also because it’s always been such a fun family experience. I would actually eat there every single day if I could just for that rice and the ginger salad dressing alone!

You can imagine how thrilled I was when they asked me to take part in their Be the Chef Training Program. I got to go behind the teppanyaki grill for a one-on-one training session, learning the art of teppanyaki from a Benihana master chef. We had Cesar, who has been cooking up teppanyaki goodness for eight years at Benihana.

The program teaches you how to master some of the classic Benihana signature dishes and a couple of fun tricks. Then comes the best part—you get to perform and be the chef for your friends! It’s kind of a genius entertaining idea, right? I honestly kept thinking about how much my son would love it! It’s a unique and cool idea for birthday parties, anniversaries or any celebration. It was such a blast and we laughed the whole time I was up there playing chef.

If you’re interested in the Be The Chef program, the package is $200 for four people (guest chef and three guests). The chef’s guests will enjoy a meal of Benihana soup, Benihana salad, shrimp appetizer, hibachi vegetables, Splash ‘N Meadow entrees, homemade dipping sauces and Japanese hot green tea. You can always add more people too, for $50 each.
